Wallis Days

I received the latest copy of Helicopter Life yesterday, which was very good Ð although I would like to correct some items in the Wallis Days article.

Firstly, the event was actually sponsored and organised by the BRA, on whose behalf Woody (and his brother Wim) did most of the time consuming organisation. Members manned the event during the awful weekend weather, and we are very grateful to all those who gave their time up for nothing other than getting drenched! Without the BRA members or financial support the event would not have existed.

Next year's event will mark the 90th birthday of Ken Wallis, and will be on the weekend of 12/13th August. We are spending a lot of time and effort this time to round up as many gyroplanes as practical, and it should be a little more spectacular than 2005.

Also, the comments re the High Command and Air Command gyroplanes are not quite accurate. The day prior to the show was not the High Command's first test flight Ð it was in fact the final CAA sign off flight, after which a full Permit to Fly was issued.
