Copter Covers is very much a family business. The original company was started by Scot and Kirsty Parker and sold to the current owners, John and Sasha Pattinson in 2005. John and Sasha took over a few designs and the name, but as John explains the business has changed a great deal. “I had been looking for my own business for sometime,” says John, “but ideally I wanted to take over either a fledgling business or one that was being sold for good reasons, which had potential for growth.” Scot and Kirsty were selling the business to emigrate to New Zealand and there certainly seemed to be potential in helicopter covers when helicopters themselves were such a booming market.
When they took over the business John was working for Per Lindstrand on a project and so, as he could give very little time to Copter Covers, Sasha took over the business on her own, planning the designs and hand-cutting and sewing, as well as trying to look after her two small children and settle down into their new house. By April 2006, Sasha was completely exhausted and “called a halt on it.”...
