Oshkosh or Bust
One hundred years ago, three Frenchmen lifted off the ground in machines they called helicopters.
A century later, a few pilots had the crazy idea of crossing the Atlantic and landing in the heart of the biggest aviation event in the world: the EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, USA.
The only possible route transits via Iceland and Greenland, and they had to fly legs of more than 350 nautical miles, which was more than the range of most of the helicopters they planned to use. The total journey was more than 4500 nautical miles, or nearly 50 flight hours each way! Five helicopters took part in the raid....
