Mountain Flying Training in Switzerland

Mountain Flyers was started in 1980 by rescue pilot Ueli Salterman, who worked at the Rega base in Berne. At the time they were not doing much flying and he decided to start a school, partly to increase the amount of flying he was doing, and partly to improve the standard of private training in Switzerland.

The school began with one Bell 47G, and two years later it bought the first Robinson R22 in Switzerland. In 2004, Salterman sold the company to its present owners, Christoph Graf and Max Râz.

Instruction makes up the largest part of Mountain Flyers’ work, although they also do some charter flights and sightseeing tours. They do mountain flying courses on the R22 up to 2000 metres. Anything over 2000 metres is done on the R44...
