AS332L2 Super Puma, G-REDN

After landing the co-pilot taxied to the apron to disembark the passengers. While taxiing the helicopter completed turns in each direction without incident. After the passengers had disembarked, the commander taxied to the parking spot. He steered to the right without difficulty, but when he commenced a turn to the left there was no response from the helicopter. The crew checked and realised that the nose wheel lock had engaged, but the co-pilot’s attempts to release it were unsuccessful. The commander increased collective pitch to reduce the pressure acting on the pin, but he felt the helicopter become unstable...
