Oil and Gas in Norway
This is a business in which a lot of money can be made! This is true not merely of the profits made by the oil multinationals, but also for the people working in this field, in whatever capacity. And qualified labour is in demand, not just on the oilrigs but also in the helicopter businesses that supply the platforms. Helicopters fly to a regular schedule, like the airlines, in almost any weather, and they fly out into the North Sea, to distant rigs and supply ships up to 400 kilometres off the coast. It is a job for professionals, which means not just the flight crews, but especially the male and female engineers who, in their individual stations, ensure that the helicopters take to the skies in "better than new" condition. It is not unusual to find that airframes delivered to operators by the manufacturers still have considerable technical problems that then must be put right at the home base.....
