Helitech 2008

The first European HeliTech took place in October at Cascais, in Portugal. HeliTech itself has been going for twenty one years, having started in Aberdeen, moved to Redhill and more recently to Duxford in Cambridgeshire, where it is still. They made a previous attempt to move into Europe a couple of years ago, but were unable to complete the deal after a crash at the airport they were going to use in Spain. Hence, their Portuguese début.

Although attendance overall was not very high the first day boasted 1300 plus visitors, which was certainly a success for a small airfield some three quarters of an hour outside Lisbon, and which, in the normal course of events, is mainly used for helicopter and jet traffic...
