Slovac Police

After the break up of Czechoslovakia, the newly created Slovak Republic established its own police and rescue aviation unit. It was called Letecky utvar Ministerstva vnutra Slovenskej republiky (LU MV SR - Aviation body of Slovakian Ministry of Interior). This unit was not part of the Police corps, but a department of the Ministry of Interior. In Eastern European countries, this is a rare situation, because Police units are not usually departments of power ministries. Despite this, all the helicopters had “Policia” (Police) insignia on the fuselage. In early 2005, the unit was given a new and complicated name – Odbor leteckej prepravy Uradu pre ochranu ustavn_ch cinitelov a diplomatickych misii MV (Department of Air Transport subordinated under the Office for Statesmen and Diplomatic Embassy protection of Slovakian MoI)...
