Flying in Panama

Although the construction of the Panama Canal started in 1881, it was not until 15th August 1914 that the first ship sailed through it, at last achieving the dream of reaching the Pacific Ocean by a route between the two American continents. Disease and accidents took the lives of 28,000 workers, and some of the bodies were shipped back to Europe in barrels of vinegar. Panama's is the flag of convenience for numerous ship owners anxious to circumvent rigorous European and American crewing regulations, and the country is also a drugs emporium located between South and North America.

That is the downside of its story, but Panama is also a fabulously beautiful tropical paradise...
