Dear Georgina,

It was with sadness that I heard of the passingof Johnnie Johnson. I do not know how old he was, but he must have been well into his late 80s.

I only came across Johnnie about 15 years ago or so, when he was already flying with a medical restriction and shortly before he was forced to retire. He was an ‘old time’ helicopter instructor, who seemed to make his living by teaching people on their own helicopters from their own houses (but always from a licenced airfield!) before we needed Registered Facilities, FTOs etc...
