The Liguria Region is one of the most beautiful areas of Italy, and it is well known for its agreeable Mediterranean climate, and for wild landscapes characterized by mountains that plunge into the sea, and by an indented coastline studded with beaches and coves. The resident population is 1,653,000, but in the winter and summer tourist seasons the population triples at weekends.
