The enduring question at the HAI HeliExpo was - will there ever be a 609 tilt rotor built and flying, or not?

The rumour is that Bell, having sold all the options for the tiltrotor at a lower price than they can be built for in the present market, cannot afford to actually build a flying machine.

The Pprune threads, based on the differing opinions of Tony Osborne of Shephard Press and Bob Cox of the Star-Telegram work around the apparent indiscretion of Agusta CEO Giuseppi Orsi in telling the assembled press at HeliExpo that Agusta will be taking the programme over from Bell.
