NAS Hyeres on High Alert
The history of Naval Air Station Hyères-Palyvestre dates back to 1919. In that year the Secretary of the French Navy decided to set up and drain the marshes in the area where the airfield was about to be located. In 1922 the airfield was rented by the French Navy. On the 1st of February 1925 the Naval Air Station was officially named “Centre d'Aviation Maritime du Palyvestre” (Palyvestre Naval Aviation Center).
