I enjoyed the Summer 2011 article on the new Calidus Gyroplane (Superbug takes flight), and write to correct a slight inaccuracy:

It was the RAF, not the US military, that used Cierva C.30A ‘Rota’ Autogiros to calibrate the coastal radar, a significant but little-known part of what latter came to be called the ‘Battle of Britain’, and therein lies an even more obscure tale of how this rotary-wing aircraft took on two top-of-the-line German fighters – and survived...
